I was planning to upgrade to this cpu from my i5 8600k but I will reconsider after reading so much trouble about overheating. Have bad experiences with undervolting or tweaking ram settings in bios.

They definitely cook these chips with stock settings. I have my 5800x oc’d to 4.8ghz at 1.2375 volts. Runs about 70-72°c with a 360mm aio during cinebench. Idle temps are about 38° and games run between 48° and 60°c. Stock settings the temp would swing from 60-75 just doing normal/light tasks.

No fix ha? My GPU is working 10% max.. only have 30fps no matter what setting I put in (low or high) Also note that other games are working okay (metro, Cod mw3, m. spiderman)

When I try doing this, my PC just shuts down and refuses to boot, giving me overheating errors nonstop. I need to let it cool down long enough to be able to go back into BIOS and reload default optimized settings. I just put it in ECO mode through Ryzen Master. I’m done trying to fix this CPU through BIOS until I get a CPU less prone to overheating.

I’m right now suffering 2nd degree burns on my left hand index and middle finger damm that shit burns so much I can just imagine your burn 😕😕

My cpu ran at 75 at 3650mhz soooo no room for overclocking. I will keep it stock and upgrade whole rig with water cooling. smartest option is to sell cpu and save up for more powerful

I am having exact same issue in 2024! I have a 3080ti as well. It plays fine for about an hour and then just stops using the GPU. FPS go from 90s to 20s. Only way to fix it is to restart the game. I have done all the other fixes: Turn down settings, turn off RT, turn off Vsync, change to dx12 etc. It is BS that 2 years after the game is out they haven't found and fixed whatever bug is causing this!

going in the 4.0-4.3 range will give you crazy undervolting numbers...im running 5700x 4.2ghz all core with only 1.04 volts !

Dont do this. Ryzen cpus work in reverse to intel cpus. Ryzen cpus are MEANT to run hot and reach high temps.

I get 78.8 degrees Celcius on my CPU without any overclocking. Yeah, default cooler, you guesssed it. I am probably better off without overclocking.
